Long-distance move from Rocky Hill, CT to Houston, TX

The worst movers

I have used them to move from CT to Texas, they initially quoted my 1300, i ended up paying 1200 on top. They literally blackmailed me to pay that $1200 otherwise they will auction my items rather than delivering it to me. Please never ever use them. I had only 15 boxes around five Large, and remaining Medium or small, a mattress, coffee table and no other furniture still i had to pay $2500 for the move. They took 45 days to finally deliver the things to Texas. The only good thing is they delivered all the things, nothing was missing, ugh...

Long-distance move from Columbia, SC to Fairfax, VA

Scam.

This company is not transparent. When it was time for the move, the driver said that we need to pay extra $700 for the use of the shuttle which is actually a truck loaded with other stuff from other people saying that their big truck cannot park on the street so they have to use a shuttle which is a smaller truck. The truck or the so called shuttle parked in front of the apartment building with no restrictions and I ask the company why are we paying the extra $700 if the small truck will be the one to travel from SC to VA? I will understand if the small truck will transfer the stuff to the 18 wheeler. I don't have the delivery yet but if the small truck that picked up the stuff will be the same truck that will delivery it to VA we are not going to pay the extra cost the company is charging.

Local move within Colorado

Absolutely awful company.

I contracted with Great Moving USA for an interstate move, initially scheduled for pickup of my belongings in Chicago, IL on

1/15. The move was scheduled to bring my belongings from Chicago, IL, to Denver, CO. The total contract price (prior to

The addition of a "stair fee", which I consented to) was $1385. After the assessment of the stair fee, the total contract price

Was $1450. On the 14th, my sales representative, Allen Parker, informed me that moving the following day (as

Contemplated in the original contract, which he drafted) was impractical for Great Moving. Allen told me this immediately

Following the submission of my $290 deposit. I did not contest this point, and in fact agreed. Accordingly, Allen rescheduled

My move for 1/16, with a redundancy scheduled for 1/17 in the event that the 16th also became impractical. I am in

Colorado, and accordingly had to trust in various friends and family members to hastily scramble to get all of my belongings

Prepared for the move on the 16th. On the morning of the 16th, I received an email from Great Moving indicating that the

Move had been rescheduled for the 17th. No problem - this was already accounted for in the agreement. However, on the

17th, I again received an email indicating that the move would have to be rescheduled. This was not contemplated in the

Original contract, however a vague clause did provide that Great Moving reserves the right to reschedule for valid reasons,

Or something to that general effect. I called and spoke to an agent to discuss rescheduling. The agent indicated the reason

For the rescheduled move was a snowstorm. Barometric maps of the state of Illinois indicate there were no snowstorms

Throughout the entire state on that date or any of the prior three days, until late in the evening (long after when the move

Was scheduled to occur). Regardless, I reluctantly accepted another rescheduled move for the following morning, 1/18, set

For pickup between 9am-11am. I waited until the appointed time, with a friend on-site prepared to answer the door for the

Movers, however nobody called. Around 11:15 I contacted Great Moving's customer service department. They connected

Me to the driver of the moving truck, who told me he was an hour away from the pickup location. When the driver arrived on

Site, he called me and told me the cost of the move had increased, from $1450 to $2600. I asked him to explain why. He

Said, in part, that there was a "shuttle fee" for service from the moving truck to the door of my apartment. He also alleged

That my TV would need to be packed, and that the packing cost would be $150 for that alone, along with various additional

Miscellaneous costs, all collectively totaling close to the entire cost of the original contract. None of these additional fees

Were warranted, nor were they reasonably contemplated in the contract. The contract between myself and Great Moving is

An adhesion contract, which places the overwhelming impetus upon myself. Cancellations are automatically waived, and no

Avenues are provided for refund. Effectively, this means that Great Moving can show up to anyone's house, quote any

Figure as an additional cost, and that party will either have to pay the additional amount, or cancel the contract without

Receiving any reimbursement. I contacted my bank to report fraud, because I believe it was Great Moving's intention to

Charge me an additional fee regardless of the state of my residency and belongings upon arrival.

Long-distance move from Woonsocket, RI to Chicago, IL

One of the worst experiences of my life.

Please research better before picking a moving company! using Great Moving (AKA greatmovingusa.com) was one of the worst mistakes in my life. I was moving from RI to Chicago, the man who quoted me told me I had to fly to Chicago THE SAME DAY as they pick up my belongings in RI in case they were delivered. He also said that Chicago was a main hub for the company so they would be delivered very quickly. 22 DAYS LATER, after multiple phone calls with no helpful information, my belongings arrived. I thought they were gone forever, they never had an answer to when they were going to come until a couple days before the long month of having no belongings was over. My clothes were soaked and covered in a purple mold, after washing it never came out and I had to throw away piles of my clothing (which was in a plastic tight container). My mirror was smashed although it was in a foam box. My dressed was caved in and destroyed and completely missing the first shelf. My couch cushions were ruined. Multiple vases, pictures that were all in bubble wrap were destroyed. Basically every single large item was damaged. I still have not heard back from the claim that I have filed and its been months. In addition, they quote you by a cubic square foot "Estimate" that they just give you by you listing the items that you want to move. If you are over this "estimate" (which you absolutely will be) they then automatically charge you for an additional 100 cubic square feet at a rate almost double the price! I am reasonable and understand shuttle fees, but then this also made your shuttle fees twice the price! My quote versus what I paid was tripled. I am so glad this is over and will honestly never use a mover again I am so traumatized. plus if they damage your items they will only pay for 25 cents per pound of item damaged, so I will never be seeing any money from this company. I really hope this prevents someone from going through what I did.

Long-distance move from Washington, DC to Columbus, OH

The worst service and company ever encountered.

This company, hands down, is the worst company I have encountered, and it needs to be shut down. The company failed to update the estimate, which included specific restrictions on the hours when the building freight elevator can be used, which resulted in the movers arriving 1 hour (!!) before the elevator was shut off to complete a 3-hour job. Then I was offered to reschedule the move for $400, in addition to all the new information and additional rates that the representative Allen Parks never mentioned in all three conversations with him. Per the movers' assessment, my new estimate would more than double the one Allen Parks provided me with. The company refused to waive the rescheduling fee, refund the deposit I made, or rectify their negligence in any possible and acceptable manner. This company should not be allowed to operate anywhere. Period.

Long-distance move from Columbia, SC to Silver Spring, MD

Increased the fee after the move started!

This place is a SCAM!

You talk to "Charlie" who seems very nice and gives you a quote and then on moving day---they add $1000 to the bill

And she will not get on the phone to talk to you. She is merely a broker that gives you mis-information. You have to talk to the supervisor of the movers. You are stuck on moving day because you have to be out of your old place and into your new one within a certain time frame. You have taken off work etc etc.

Great Movers are such scam artists they are sickening! And they "lost" some of our things as well as moved items from other people homes into our place!! They are beyond terrible. You cannot leave a review on their website --- there are only FAKE 5 star reviews on there.

Even The Better Business Bureau says that the address they have listed for their headquarters is FAKE, they do not respond to claims and gave them an F rating!. They should be brought up on charges!

Long-distance move from Peoria, IL to San Antonio, TX

Cheaters, rude and nicely planned scam: DO NOT HIRE THEM.

We had planned for an interstate move to Texas. Everything was discussed in detail over phone and email with 'Allen' - the sales rep from the company' side. The quote that was given to us was around $1500. On the day of moving pick up, their representatives came in and increased the quote to $2500 citing that the overall size was larger than wha could fit in their truck. The story does not end here. They were extremely rude and arrogant at time of pick up with my wife who was by herself in the house. Then at time of delivery, they called us to let us know that the delivery is happening tomorrow between a certain time frame: and guess what? The delivery never took place on the next day and there was no communication whatsoever from their side to let us know what had happened. We had to make a zillion phone calls most of which were a waste because no one answered or everyone just kept us pushing fro one person/party to another person/party. Then late night, we got a text message saying there was a problem with the actual delivery guy so our delivery was getting postponed by another day. When they came in for delivery: our TV was broken, guitar missing, mattress missing. Remember, we had to take our days off work to accommodate their delivery timeframe which never happened on the original date they themselves had committed to. Then when we filed claims as our items were missing/broken: we had to fight for our rights, but the company never cared and were as usual rude and arrogant in their responses. We ended up spending about $3000 on our move to have to bear insult, arrogance throughout, uncertainty and unprofessionalism and ofcourse missing/broken items. Such crooks and a gang of thieves they are! PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT EVER HIRE GREAT MOVING USA. YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Long-distance move from Willow Grove, PA to Fort Wayne, IN

Do not USE!! Rip Off and their Insurance Anthem is not any better!

I thought I had found a great company! Allen was so helpful in the beginning as I was preparing to relocate from PA to IN. Then he went ghost. Then The company would not respond to calls or emails. On moving day the gentlemen were upset because it was more than they had anticipated. Had Allen returned phone calls and read emails he would have known. They broke a lamp in my apartment. I got charged extra on delivery because it was a shuttle??(it was the same truck they used to pick up my items- boxes were crushed- items broken and some were things that could not be replaced. The delivery drivers were very careful in bringing in my items( I could tell they cared) I was informed by Allen that they would bring my items up to the second floor but in the contract it said it was an extra fee! so I had them leave everything down stairs, they did put my bed together. One of the drivers picked up a box and could feel that things were moving around- the side of the box said fragile- Lamp on it. He cam e and let me know that the box seemed like somethings was broken- he bought it in and when I opened it - the lamp that was given to me from my mom( we had it for over 40 years) was broken in pieces. I contacted management immediately and they apologized and sent claim forms. Anthem claims that they would not pay for damages because I signed that I received my items. The Great moving customer service person told me to sign and she was making note that items were broken. I took pictures- you could see that I had the items securely wrapped etc. the boxes had been tossed, they were bent etc. with the extra fees, it cost me more than an extra 3k than the original quote and I had items broken! Not to mention that my arrival was for November 1 and I did not get my stuff until November 18th! It is stressful moving and to not have your items taken care of is, pretty egregious! Do not use this company!

Scammers - See all previous Reviews. 100% accurate!

Same issues with all previous reviews. Was quoted one price and charged nearly double after it was all done. Shuttle Truck, etc. This company was called Great Moving USA & I'm pretty sure these crooks change their name every few months after receiving multiple complaints, looking for new customers unable to connect them with their previous incarnation.

Long-distance move from Paulsboro, NJ to Jacksonville, FL

Disgusted with this Company.

I moved from NJ to Florida.. Hired these unprofessional, inconsiderate company for my move cause they sold me a good quote for just boxes n 4 tv. Well I surely explained when given quote it would be between 40 - 50 boxes, plus 4 tv, different size tv, maybe a mattress n foldingbed wasn't sure cause more things still needed packing that I needed to take with me.. So they knew that from Beginning, mind you, I did all packing n padding, not them. So all they would had to do was to load to truck n unload to storage unit at my destination. So he gave me a quote n said he added extra space in case I did need it., I said no problem. I was happy with quote given, so mind you 3 days prior I called to confirm n explain to Kelly the supposedly manager that I had extra items n she said no problem let driver know. I said ok, she never explained to me the extra cost what so ever or asked about how much more? So I said cool. I never dreamed in my wildest dream that when movers arrivedthey would had added all these extra charges ,,shuttle n cubic footer prices,,, on the day of my move June 25th, 2020, so I called Kelly to explain why is the price was double, she said actually they had to use a shuttle cause a semi truck Would not fit ,, and that's a lie, I see semi trucks go thru my block alot and so she continue to say that its in the contract, I told her I did see that, she was not nice at all, and said you should have read small prints. I said who takes time to read small prints after ya rush people to sign the contract n take their money. really who?? Cause they don't give you enough time to read and ask questions. Once you sign that contract you are obligated to it,, not fair, I have a reading comprehension problem and I told the salesman that..so he knew that, so the price was jacked up double! I had a fit called my daughter to borrow money from her.. This was not expected at all. I explain to them that I was a single parent with only one fixed income, I had to sell all my big furnitute, bedroom sets and etc..to be able to afford to hire a movers, But they really didn't care. So after I got here, my delivery was suppose to be here by July 10th,, they deliver my goods on July 20, 2020.. And when they got here another dissapointment.. My stuff was in the middle of the semi truck, I had to wait them to get somebody else stuff out first, before they got to mines., Then the driver said, it may not be able to go thru. Rapidly I said you know drop my things at the gate.. So I had to rent a pick up truck from my uhual storage place to load it n take to back to my unit where my storage was. So mind you I paid 2,400.00 for a pick only in NJ and drop OFF to Jax, FLORIDA, on top of that I HELPED UNLOAD my things, but when I saw how damaged my brand new boxes was treated..n heard broken items in my boxes,, I was so upset I wanted to cry..I said this is not right at all. I ask the driver why are my boxes damaged, busted open and trashed like that, I paid for my items to be well treated n taken good care of and this is how they arrived to me so damaged,,, Why? All he said he don't know, all he does is pick up n deliver not loading. He knew I was upset..but I had no choice but to continue to help his one helper load onto the pick up rental, once again had that I had to pay to rent just to bring my belongings to the unit where my 3 daughters n grandson waited to help me unload the pick up rental.,,,I feel I deserve to be reimbursed for them lying to me, trashing my items n breaking my goods n for job incomplete. But I know I'm not cause they will continue to do this to other ppl and get away with it. But God don't like ugly. I will never ever use this COMPANY EVER AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE MY FAMILY N FRIENDS NEVER DON'T EITHER! I HOPE YOU READING THIS RECONSIDER AS WELL!! DONT HIRE THEM!! They only put up Good reviews on their website to get you to hire them but once they got you to sign that contract, your obligated so they don't care., and no one will know the truth about their company. Until you have had an experience. RETHINK ABOUT HIRING THEM!
